New balconies in collaboration with Altana A/S
The building on Sankt Hans Gade received new balconies in 2023, of which 7 were clad with GRC to preserve the architectural expression of the building along the street.
For the 7 balconies, a total of 14 elements (balcony ceilings and floors) were produced with recessed holes and corresponding plugs in the same material, resulting in a hidden mounting solution.
The balcony ceilings were produced in a thickness of 12 mm, while the balcony floor elements measured 27-39 mm and had a one-sided slope of 12% for drainage over the front edge. All elements were produced in our BBF no. 106 WV color with a waffle texture for slip resistance on the balcony floors.

"On Sankt Hans Gade, we had to install 7 GRC balconies on the property's street side, in addition to steel balconies in the courtyard. 4 on the building's corner and 3 along Sankt Hans Gade.
We chose the color and surface structure of the GRC based on one of BB fiberbeton's color samples, and we are really pleased with how the final result turned out."

With a sustainable material and an environmentally friendly production without toxic materials, GRC elements from BB fiberbeton are ideal for environmental certifications, such as LEED, DGNB, and BREEAM.
GRC is made of white cement and fine aggregates and reinforced with glassfibre. Elements are produced using a special spray-technique that allows for a low water/cement-ratio, a low thickness, and a high strength.
