The Usher Institute’s modern facade, crafted with bespoke GRC elements, pays homage to Edinburgh’s historic roots while setting the scene for the new hub that has a data-driven vision for health and social care.

A hub for collaboration and innovation, The Usher Institute brings together researchers, clinicians, and industry partners to tackle pressing health challenges. Designed by Hassell Studio, the building’s 3685 m² GRC facade complements the rich history of Edinburgh while delivering a contemporary aesthetic.

Crafted with exposed aggregates, the 15 mm-thick panels achieve a perfect balance of durability and elegance. With its 793 elements in 179 variations, the facade demonstrates GRC’s potential to bring ambitious architectural visions to life.
