Modern service building for Swedish hospital
In every modern hospital it is imperative that operations move smoothly and an efficient service system is essential. The NSM Service Building is a new part of the Malmö hospital area, and will supply the hospital with the basic supplies such as textiles, food, medicine etc. The service building is designed by Tengbom.
Perforated facade in GRC
The facade elements in front of the gas and fuel filling station are designed for better ventilation to reduce the risk of explosion. These shapely and perforated elements are manufactured in GRC, as the material allows for the perforated pattern, while also being strong and stable enough to hold.
These GRC elements required a special attention to detail in both the moulding and the casting process. The moulding involved extensive work as each hole consisted of a mould block that was assembled and disassembled between each casting. In the casting, it was important to pay attention to spray and roll the GRC in each thin wall between the holes. This was essential for the strength and stability of the elements.

With a sustainable material and an environmentally friendly production without toxic materials, GRC elements from BB fiberbeton are ideal for environmental certifications, such as LEED, DGNB, and BREEAM.
GRC is made of white cement and fine aggregates and reinforced with glassfibre. Elements are produced using a special spray-technique that allows for a low water/cement-ratio, a low thickness, and a high strength.
