A unique building project
In the heart of a lively district in Bratislava, Nivy Station is designed as a unique project that combines a bus terminal, shopping centre, and several facilities for active rest and relaxation. The building has a green roof top oasis that is a year-round outdoor destination with a multitude of activities. The roof features shopping opportunities, relaxation areas, a playground, event spaces, and cafés.
The vision for the project is to make Nivy Station the new social hub of Bratislava’s New Nivy district. The district has seen numerous new developments over the last couple of years, including offices and housing. Nivy Station is located near the SKY PARK residential towers, which BB fiberbeton also manufactured GRC facade elements for.
A coloured & textured GRC facade
BB fiberbeton manufactured 2.300 facade elements in 290 variants, which corresponds to 4.600 m2 GRC. The facade elements have a light matt surface with splashes of grey painted spots. This effect gives the surface a more textured and interesting finish. All elements are 12 mm and mounted with either embedded steel frames or embedded inserts.

Thus, making it easier to work with and transport whilst also easing the load on buildings.
GRC is an excellent facade material if durability and sustainability is of great concern and importance. GRC is durable for more than 100 years without any technical maintenance and it does not dent, rot, corrode, nor burn (class A material). With a sustainable material and an environmentally friendly production without toxic materials, GRC elements from BB fiberbeton are ideal for environmental certifications, such as LEED, DGNB, and BREEAM.
GRC is made of white cement and fine aggregates and reinforced with glassfibre. Elements are produced using a special spray-technique that allows for a low water/cement-ratio, a low thickness, and a high strength.
