Holiday center Nordsøen has always had a great location, however it was decided to renovate the somewhat dull and worn concrete clad buildings. The renovation of the external facade consisted of a completely new facade cladding and new balconies. In the 1970’s Nordsøen was considered a modern and attractive holiday center and the vision for this renovation was to bring this back. As such, the wish was to give Nordsøen a new and modern expression with a light and more inviting facade.
This renovation project was a special one of its kind as the contractor and architect wanted glassfibre reinforced concrete on all surfaces. This led to a close collaboration where everyone really listened to each other to achieve the best possible outcome.
BB fiberbeton delivered 620 different GRC elements, all specifically tailored to this project. All gables and facade elements towards the balcony entrances are fitted with our own FA1000®-system. The system is developed by BB fiberbeton and makes mounting easy and simple. For the balcony entrances, the parapets are produced with embedded stud-frames. The balcony bases are executed with a non-slip pattern and in the colour BBf no. 04 light grey. The balcony soffits and parapets are coloured in BBf no. 01 standard white. Additionally, BB fiberbeton delivered stern elements and all railing elements for the stairs.
It was quite wistful when the last elements were delivered. It has been an exciting project where we have had a fantastic collaboration with the contractor. We have had a really good time together. We have had a great dialogue with the architect and although it has been challenging with such a task, we are pleased with the result.

GRC is durable for more than 100 years without any technical maintenance and it does not dent, rot, corrode, nor burn (class A material). With a sustainable material and an environmentally friendly production without toxic materials, GRC elements from BB fiberbeton are ideal for environmental certifications, such as LEED, DGNB, and BREEAM.
GRC is made of white cement and fine aggregates and reinforced with glassfibre. Elements are produced using a special spray-technique that allows for a low water/cement-ratio, a low thickness, and a high strength.
