A crystal clear townhall
Kristallen, a new townhall in central Lund, unifies more than 500 municipal employees in a shared building. The various departments were previously scattered across the city. The building, which is named after the Kristallen district, is designed by Christensen & Co Architects. The name, Kristallen, is reflected in the facade of the building with its characteristic green glass and large windows. Environmental consciousness played a big part in the design. Solar panels are installed in the roof and initiatives were taken to optimize the heating and cooling system in the building. On the roof top terrace, employees can take a break on a sunny day amongst flowers and greenery. In 2014, the building was nominated for the Kasper-Salin prize.
A contrast of materials
White and sleek GRC elements contrast the flashier green glass panels on the facade of the modern townhall. BB fiberbeton delivered 170 facade elements in 15 variants. The elements are mounted with embedded stud-frames which allow for a hidden installation. The elements are produced with a light matt surface in BBf no.01 white.

GRC is durable for more than 100 years without any technical maintenance and it does not dent, rot, corrode, nor burn (class A material). With a sustainable material and an environmentally friendly production without toxic materials, GRC elements from BB fiberbeton are ideal for environmental certifications, such as LEED, DGNB, and BREEAM.
GRC is made of white cement and fine aggregates and reinforced with glassfibre. Elements are produced using a special spray-technique that allows for a low water/cement-ratio, a low thickness, and a high strength.
