Safety and accessibility above all
Safe and accessible public toilets for all individuals – including people with disabilities – were the primary goal of the Pirrama Park Amenities Block project. The initiative aimed to replace and upgrade the existing public toilets in the north-east section of Pirrama Park, Sydney, Australia.
The selected high-quality design not only created a light and easily maintained public toilet, offering a more inviting atmosphere compared to its dark and gloomy predecessor, but also featured a build with minimized costs and easy maintenance.
The Sydney Morning Herald even did a piece on the toilet, which – along with other new public toilets in Sydney – they called “Sydney’s Instagrammable Public Toilets”.
From Lille Skensved, Denmark to Sydney, Australia
Working closely with HUME Building Products in Australia, we were happy to produce the 71 high-quality GRC elements for the Pirrama Park Amenities Block. All 71 elements, consisting of 16 variants and corresponding to approx. 68m2 unfolded GRC, were produced by our skilled team at our Danish factory and shipped to Sydney, Australia.
All canopy and column elements are produced in our standard 12 mm GRC, while the basin elements are produced in 20 mm. One of the advantages of our GRC solutions is the thin an lightweight nature of the elements, curtesy of our production techniques and the material properties of GRC. This allows for easy installation on any load-bearing structure – even wood -, and enables cost-effective shipping, minimizing overall costs.
Thoughtful design, easy installation, and low maintenance
Every element for the Pirrama Park project is meticulously designed with easy installation and low maintenance in mind. Recessed holes with plugs, made from the same material and in the same color, facilitate the installation process while maintaining a seamless and hidden appearance. Furthermore, all elements feature a transparent high-durability coating for an additional water- and dirt-repellent effect, ensuring that maintenance remains a straightforward task.
